 Children's Classes

Our Children’s Bible Study Fellowship classes are age-appropriate and fun classes designed to teach the Bible with the ultimate goal of seeing children saved and serving the Lord.  The classes meet in our upper Children’s Wing as well as our lower Academy level.  Learn more about your child’s specific class including who their teachers are by visiting the Children’s Ministry page.

 Foundations Class

Foundations Group

 Foundations

Under the leadership and instruction of Pastor Troy Calvert, the Foundations are primarily young married couples up through ten years of marriage sharing the experiences and joys of being the building blocks of a new Christian home. This class meets in the classroom wing conveniently located across from the nursery.

 Singles Class

 Singles

The Singles Group is a vibrant and essential part of Fairfax Baptist Temple participating in activities, Bible studies, and church services. They meet each Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. in rooms A-14 & 15 for general group announcements and activity updates, and then break up into smaller classes.

Classes available for you to attend include:

Professionals taught by John Schafe for those singles who have a little more experience and are moving along in their career.
Career taught by Levi Fender & Rob Van Den Berg for those singles starting out on their career path.
College taught by Rusty Fender for those singles still in their college years.
New Horizons taught by Mark & Lesa Byrum for those singles who are “Single Again” either by separation, divorce, or death of a spouse.

Monthly activities always include a dinner on the third Sunday of each month, a Singspiration/Fellowship on the First Sunday night of each month, and a ladies’ or men's Bible Study twice a month.  Other activities, such as retreats, sports events, hiking, bowling, skiing, and white water rafting are scheduled periodically. Singles volleyball is played at least two Sunday evenings per month in the Family Life Center.

 Homebuilders

Homebuilders is an adult department comprised of four classes. Hany Zakaria, one of our deacons, is the department director. The classes are taught by Gary Kidd, our Academy Administrator, Mike Probus, Thom Bacon, and Mike Johns. Through a series of topical studies, the focus of each of the classes is on helping parents establish homes that honor God. Each week the lessons provide Biblical insight concerning the home, raising children, establishing a better, stronger marriage, and other similar topics. The Homebuilders is an active class with numerous activities for the entire family--children are welcomed at most of these activities!  If you are a couple seeking to raise your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, the Homebuilders may be the class for you.

 Crusaders Class

 Crusaders

The Crusaders for Christ has a two-fold mission: The first is to have each class member grow daily in the nurture and admonition of our Lord, making them bold for the faith in these times. The second is to reach out to our community and “bring them in” that the lost might be saved and become a vibrant and participating part of the family of God.

Crusaders for Christ was formed to accommodate older couples in our church with “empty nests” or those who prefer not want to separate into men and women only classes during Bible Study fellowship hour. The class is comprised of a wonderful group of believers, represented by all age groups, which not only study together on Sunday but also seek at least bi-monthly fellowship.  Tom Oldenburg, one of our deacons, is the department director, and Ron Henderson, also a deacon, is the class teacher.

 Harvesters

The Harvesters Department consists of classes for individuals. There are three ladies classes taught by Mrs. Shirley Parker, Mrs. Marge Guy, and Mrs. Sarah Pigott. Dr. Ted Wieler, FBT Missions Director and department director, leads a class for men. The classes are conducted as a guided discussion group with ample opportunity for your questions growing out of the morning's text to be raised and answered (either in the class by the others attending or as a follow-up the next week). The study topics, generally conducted in 13-week quarters, are used throughout the Harvesters Department (so a husband and wife may attend separate classes but study together during the week and compare notes on Sunday afternoon). The in-class discussion begins where the Student Booklet ends.

 Calebs Class

 Calebs

Fairfax Baptist Temple ministers to its Senior Adults by providing opportunity for its members to participate in a program of Bible study, scheduled monthly activities, and visitation through the Caleb Cousins Bible Study Fellowship.  Alan Darby is the Department Head. The Bible Study Fellowship lessons are taught by Alan Edmondson and Alan Darby. The class meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 and consists of a period of fellowship and refreshments followed by class announcements, prayer time, and Bible Study. There is always good participation in the Bible Study among the class member which heightens the class interest.

The group participates monthly in an outreach ministry to a local health care center where they conduct a regular monthly Bible Study and worship service. This ministry is coordinated each monthly by Bob Inge, one of the deacons and a faithful class member.  The class has regularly scheduled monthly activities which are generally held on Saturdays. Van transportation is provided for all activities as well as for those need transportation to Sunday services. Activities include such things as museum trips, dinner and Saturday IMAX movies, picnics, Sight and Sound trips, seminars on subjects of interest to senior citizens, cookouts, a full-scale Thanksgiving dinner and a yearly Christmas party. There is no age limit for participation in the class, but it is generally for those who are age 60 and above. However, everyone is invited regardless of age.
